Behemoth Commission by alliartist Behemoth Commission by alliartist
I was commissioned by one of my very favorite authors to draw two of my favorite characters from his books. The book series is called "Leviathan" by Scott Westerfeld and if you haven't read it, well, you should.

He also posted a fancy blog about it. [link] So go read it and marvel at the praise (I marveled).

Second Behemoth drawing here, [link]
And a Goliath piece here,

Done entirely on the computer, took a bajillion days, and I love it so very very much.

I saw this at a different presentation of Scott's that I went to yesterday. This was his example of manga fanart. How can you tell it's manga? Because it's windy (Scott's explanation).

I saw him give a short presentation the other night, he used this picture in the fanart display. Very nice.

Were you at Kepler's? I was there. I totally buried my face in my hands when it came on the screen.

You were there too? Hah wow! What a coincidence! You shouldn't be embarrassed though, it's good! I liked his comment on it, so true.

You were commissioned by the great Scott himself? Wow, you're very lucky! I love their boots!

Yes, and thank you! I felt pretty awesome and lucky. ^_^

And I'm a big fan of that kind of boot. X)

This is so far the must accurate drawing of Alek and Deryn I'd seen, of course beside his truly Keith Thompson.
This really do capture the mood of the two protagonists, a very nice piece of work I'd say.

I did my research for it. Reread Leviathan, paying careful attention to details about the two of them, and making notes. And after I sent it to Scott for the first time, he had some changes he requested (like the badge on Deryn's arm, which was different before and he knew how it was supposed to look, despite it never coming up in a book, lol). I pour all of my effort into work, especially commissions.
